the internets killed the video star

YouTube has become the world’s largest pile of videos, sure. But for all its inter-excellence there's one thing the new tube hasn't been able to reconcile with the boob tube: channel surfing. Mindless, 2am *next...next...next...* channel surfing. You know, the kind that invariably ended up on Skin-a-max, HSN, or some bizzarro japanese gameshow...

*Tear*

Get up you panzy! Clean yourself off. Now sit down. Because from this day forward you can enjoy all the bestest video in all its next, next, next glory that the interwebs has to offer. Thanks to your friends at POKE, a case of beer and uh, a bunch or random video, we now give to you upl8 TV.

Go ahead. Peep it. We've created a never-ending stream of absurdities, just for you. And when you're done perusing our curated collection - feel free to search by your own video-tastes by just throwing a search term after the backslash lika deece: www.upl8.tv/monkeys+asses.

Good luck and happy surfing.

Just what the doctor ordered!

tom : Monday, 30 June 2008

Nice one! Maybe you should be allowed to create your own channel? Hmm. Hmmmmmm. :)

Justin Cambria : Monday, 30 June 2008

Had a Family-Guy esque "how did you get into my the lost crannies of my mind" moment when I saw the woman biting it while stomping grapes. A lost classic! This is fantastic.

Nater Kane : Monday, 30 June 2008

Eric Shoemaker : Tuesday, 01 July 2008

Ha! W00t!

Ian Fuller : Friday, 04 July 2008

Great stuff guys, and chance it could do a bit of 'learning' for the content I skip? Actually start using this at home then...

Jack Jackson : Wednesday, 09 July 2008

Awesome ! Now it would be cool if it would be possible to watch previous videos by simply clicking one button or watch again the same video or go ahead in the video or pause it.

Daren : Saturday, 19 July 2008

Its not working guys? Any issues?

POKE : Sunday, 20 July 2008

Hey Daren. Not sure what you mean. Seems to be working for us. Can you tell us exactly what isn't working? We were doing some updating this weekend. Maybe you just caught it at a bad time... Rawk. / t

Philip Dhingra : Tuesday, 22 July 2008

This is so cool. How do you keep it updated? I've gone through about an hour or two of this, but now I'm mostly getting repeats.

Matt Espinoza : Tuesday, 22 July 2008

Love it! I like to have it on the laptop while cooking breakfast and then on the breakfast table while we all eat. My friends and I have made it a weekend thing! I'm not exactly sure how it works behind the scenes, but I noticed that the videos can become repetitive. I've seen the cat in the boot, and pandas on the play set more than my fair share. :-D

JHON B : Thursday, 24 July 2008

I love it! So much so I just couldn't stop thinking about it. The idea is simple but genius it enhances the content and it brings back channel surfing. The only downside is the lack of information of the videos you are watching (this could be easily solved by adding a teletext button perhaps) Apart from that, this little piece of retro software has totally mesmerized me. Thanks guys Jhon B
