YouTube has become the world’s largest pile of videos, sure. But for all its inter-excellence there's one thing the new tube hasn't been able to reconcile with the boob tube: channel surfing. Mindless, 2am *next...next...next...* channel surfing. You know, the kind that invariably ended up on Skin-a-max, HSN, or some bizzarro japanese gameshow...
Quietly last night on the LES, a new baby was born here at POKE New York. The labor was intense (I believe I heard someone say "passing a watermelon throught a garden hose is easier"? But it's Alpha...
It's live. It's called Teroforma. And we'd love you to start playing with it.
Poke was contracted last Fall to begin ideation in collaboration with a few great folks from Norwalk, CT on a new kind of tableware company. This brand, its values, its vision and its identity were all born here at 44 Bond street. In October of last year we even launched the Tero blog (http://blog.teroforma.com) to detail and track our progress bringing this new brand and company to life. And now - it's time for Teroforma.com to launch and start selling product.
It just didn’t seem right for a lubricant brand like K-Y to give the definition of “sexy”, so we asked the world to tell K-Y what sexy is. The latest site KeepLifeSexy.com was launched by POKE New York in mid January. It allows people to complete the phrase, Sexy is ___________ and add to the growing collection of sexy outbursts. All the phrases can be sorted by age and gender, giving a view of the ever changing pulse of sexiness.
These got hidden away on my other camera for a while and I forgot about them…until yesterday. Poke held our own Secret Santa exchange over the holidays. The goodies ranged from DVD’s to funky books to race cars to…Bananmus Prime!
Here’s a Flickr set of those and some other Poke pics:
POKE welcomes the new Dell (PRODUCT) RED site to the world. With (PRODUCT) RED stuff, you’re still buying something you wanted all along, only this time part of the money from the sale goes straight to the Global Fund to help people with AIDS in Africa. ($80 if you buy the XPS ONE, which equates to months anti-retroviral treatments for one person). I hope they sell a bucket load - the more they sell, the more money goes to the people who need it.
Hats off to everyone who worked on this project: Chuck, Zolty, Richard and Noodle
This past week, for one day only, we ran a spot for the XPS1730 notebook, shipping with GRAW2 and the AGEIA PhysX card. It’s simple, gets the job done, and lets you shoot a big gun. Props to Chuck, Hess and Zolty for getting this puppy blowing tanks up.
See it in action at the Poke Playgound.
Quick follow up on this post about the Today Show visiting. Our girl Nikki was excellent fodder for the email snafu stories, and got her moment in the sun last Monday. For those curious about the POKE digs, take a squiz in some of the backgrounds. Watch it
